Music is a very powerful way to connect ourselves to the Lord and to each other. Grace UMC has a music ministry that offers many opportunities to share in worship!
Chancel Choir: The choir meets on Wednesday evenings at 7:15 pm in the sanctuary. This group is for adults who are high school age and older. They gather together to laugh, sing, praise and worship late August through mid-May. They offer a gift of music on the 1st and 3rd Sundays of the month during the 9:15 and 10:45 am worship services. They also assist in worship at other times throughout the church year including Christmas Eve, Holy Week and Easter.
Special Music: There are opportunities for soloists and small groups to share music in worship, along with opportunities for instrumentalists to offer their gifts of praise in worship. Communion, offertory, prelude and postlude as well as other key times during worship are an excellent opportunity for instrumentalists to offer their gifts.
Grace Kid’s Choir : Our Children’s choir meets in the downstairs chapel room and practices weekly on Sundays 10:15am-10:45am. They learn to sing, play the hand chimes, small hand instruments, and sing in worship for the congregation each 5th Sunday of the month throughout the year. .
Praise Band: This group shares their vocal and instrumental talents to lead and accompany our Chancel choir weekly. They lead us in worship with current worship and praise songs as well as bringing back some of the old hymns with a contemporary sound. Music director Charis Vander Plaats writes arrangements to create a contemporary, but familiar sound for all to sing and worship.
Grace Readiness & Daycare Music Classes: During the week, Charis leads our daycare and readiness students in weekly music classes. Students are taken on a musical adventure with music friends Mozart Mouse and Beethoven Bear.
