Joe and Kim Cluff, missionaries in Kenya:

Joe and Kim work through the Community Christian Church in Kenya.  Together with their children, Sophia and Theo, they work in a variety of ways to be the presence of Christ in Kenya.  Learn more about their mission at http://jkcluffkenya.cmfmissionary.org.  To support Joe and Kim through Grace, make your check to the church and ear mark it or your envelope for Cluff Mission.  100% of your contribution will go to their work.

Family Promise:

Family Promise works with families and crisis and churches to provide temporary, safe and welcoming housing.  For two weeks each year, Grace partners with Congress Street United Methodist Church to welcome up to 3 families to stay each night at the church for those weeks.  We provide each family a room of their own, a meal, and companionship for adults and kids alike.  To learn more, contact Judy Forgey (judy@forgraze.com) or Nancy Hughes (nvhug23@gmail.com).  Or go to the Family Promise website:  www.fpglinc.org

Jubilee Christmas:

In November and December, Grace gears up for this partnership with Lafayette Urban Ministries.  Taking anonymous ‘ornaments’ from a Christmas tree, individuals at Grace shop for one or more children, providing gifts to make it a great Christmas for a family in need.  Then in December, the families gather and wrap their own presents in our Fellowship Hall.  We provide lots of fun extras for them and all can experience the presence of God at Christmas.

Sunnyside Food Ministry:

Food insecurity (being without reliable access to a sufficient quantity of affordable, nutritious food) is a common problem in our community and traditional food pantries have income guidelines that can prevent a family from getting what they need. Grace UMC wants to support the Sunnyside community by providing supplemental food items to any family, because food insecurity can happen to anyone, regardless of their income. The Sunnyside food pantry is open to any family of a Sunnyside student in need of food. Food donations are collected in the pink grocery cart inside the fellowship hall.

Habitat for Humanity:

Grace has a long history of participating in Habitat builds in Lafayette and beyond.  In 2010-2011, we stepped out in faith to build a Habitat home in celebration of our 50th anniversary at the 22nd Street site.  If you would like more information or would like to help with a future Habitat build, please contact Bob Watson:  r.watson2@comcast.net.

Mission Trips:

Nearly every year, Grace offers a mission/work trip outside the Lafayette area.  Whether building houses, repairing churches, or helping with cleanup after a natural disaster, Grace’s mission teams are open to all adults (and older youth) who wish to lend a helping hand.

Choir Child Sponsorship:

Grace’s Choirs sponsors a child through Compassion International, taking up offering each week.  For more information about the choir’s missions, please contact choir member Karla Hiser, kmhiser@gmail.com
